Spotlighting the future of medical imaging and computer-assisted intervention research
An inaugural initiative by the MICCAI Student Board
We are excited to announce the inaugural MICCAI Doctoral Consortium, an exciting new addition to the MICCAI 2025 conference! This initiative, led by the MICCAI Student Board (MSB) in collaboration with the MICCAI Career Advancement Working Group, is designed to spotlight the work of PhD students and recent graduates.
The consortium offers a unique platform to present research, engage in scholarly dialogue, and expand professional networks within the medical imaging and computer-assisted intervention community.
A multi-format experience supporting academic exchange and career development
Showcase the core ideas of your doctoral research through a poster session during the main conference. Receive valuable feedback from experts and peers in the MICCAI community.
Selected participants will give a 3-minute oral presentation of their PhD thesis during a lunch event. This high-energy session highlights the diversity and excellence of emerging research.
All accepted participants will be featured in a digital collection hosted by the MICCAI Society and Student Board, offering increased visibility to academia and industry professionals.

Yes, but submissions must be distinct. You cannot submit the same work to both venues.
Your supervisor’s letter should briefly describe your research progress, your academic potential, and your achievements to date. It should explain why participating in this Doctoral Symposium would benefit your research development and career growth. In addition, the letter should include their perspective on the significance of your research contribution; i.e., why your work is important and relevant to the MICCAI community. Finally, the letter should confirm the expected graduation date you provided in your application.
Preferably from your academic supervisor. However, if you are currently based in industry and your work is research-oriented, a letter from your industry supervisor is also acceptable.
No problem. You can upload a new version of your file using the same submission system. The latest version will automatically overwrite the previous one.
